As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility and workplace wellness, MCI Latam hosted a powerful and timely session on drug prevention in the workplace at iour headquarters in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, on Thursday, June 12th.
The initiative, led by the National Council on Drugs in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM), brought together MCI Latam team members for an informative and preventive discussion focused on the rising challenge of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and their impact on health and public safety.
Creating Safe and Healthy Work Environments
The session emphasized the importance of promoting safe, healthy, and informed workspaces—a critical step in addressing the evolving threats posed by these new substances. As highlighted during the event, the workplace plays a key role in both early detection and prevention, helping to reduce risks not only to individual employees but also to broader public safety.
Attendees were encouraged to consider how they, as citizens and professionals, can become active participants in building a community prevention network, fostering greater awareness and resilience both within and beyond the office.
A Commitment to Global Best Practices
This event aligns with recommendations from leading international organizations including the UN, ILO, OAS, and WHO, all of which stress the need for proactive drug prevention strategies in workplace environments.
At MCI Group, we fully endorse these principles. We remain committed to educational programs, awareness initiatives, and community projects that enhance employee health, public safety, and sustainable development across our regions of operation.
Looking Forward
With initiatives like this, MCI Latam is not just responding to risks—but leading by example. By prioritizing the well-being of our teams, we are building a foundation for stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.
